SmartBear, the Massachusetts-based software test automation specialist, has acquired Bitbar, the mobile app testing platform.

The addition of Bitbar, which is based in Poland, follows SmartBear’s acquisition of Cucumber, the test automation platform, in June 2019.  With Bitbar, SmartBear says its customers will now be able to fully integrate mobile test automation into their CI/CD pipelines. Bitbar will also complement SmartBear’s existing CrossBrowserTesting tool, the company said.

Christian Wright (pictured), Chief Product Officer and Executive General Manager at SmartBear, said: “Bringing the Bitbar IP technology, along with the innovators who built it, into the SmartBear family is a big win for our customers. With support for any test automation framework, unlimited device concurrency, and flexible deployment models, Bitbar enhances our customers’ ability to release better, higher-quality software faster.”

Marko Kaasila, CEO and Co-Founder of Bitbar, added: “Joining SmartBear means bringing the most flexible web and mobile app testing platform to more forward-thinking DevOps teams. Our customers will continue to enjoy the platform they know and love, while now being able to leverage the broad range of SmartBear tools to make better software and deliver value faster.”
