GitLab, the DevOps management platform, has collaborated with Google Cloud to release Cloud Seed, an open-source cloud migration application.

Integrating into Gitlab’s ‘One DevOps Platform’ – a single solution for CI/CD, containerisation, value stream management, security testing, monitoring, and governance – Cloud Seed brings access to cloud computing with tools to generate service accounts and automatically deploy containers directly to Google Cloud Run, further expanding the reach of GitLab’s all-in-one platform and consolidating the tools required by developers.

“Our 2022 DevSecOps Survey found that DevOps and cloud adoption are two key priorities within the industry” said Ashley Kramer, acting CTO at GitLab (pictured).

The report, released in September, found 69% of respondents were looking to consolidate their toolchains after 41% said they were using between six and ten tools.

“Through our work with hyperscalers, like Google Cloud, we’ve noticed that the organisations we onboard to GitLab’s single platform also tend to shift to the cloud in tandem. This capability will enable organisations to accelerate their cloud adoption while still ensuring they can work within the One DevOps Platform,”  Kramer said.
