Cisco acquires Splunk for $28 billion

Cisco, the California-headquartered technology company, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Splunk, the California-headquartered big data specialist, for $28 billion. The acquisition will integrate Splunk into Cisco’s offerings. 

Cisco’s objective is to  offer an observability platform that covers applications, networks, and hybrid cloud computing environments. 

Commenting on the announcement, Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins said: “Our combined capabilities will drive the next generation of AI-enabled security and observability. From threat detection and response to threat prediction and prevention, we will help make organizations of all sizes more secure and resilient.”
