Atos Signs Digital-Transformation Deal with US Insurer CNA

The number 8 insurer in the US has selected Atos to drive a large-scale digital overhaul.

IT services provider Atos has signed a multi-year contract with CNA Financial, the US’ eighth largest insurer, to manage the latter’s IT infrastructure as it seeks to streamline operations and transform the customer experience.

Atos, which specialises in cloud services, infrastructure and data management, will be tasked with transforming CNA’s IT operations, managing its cloud migration and developing a host of new services. The IT specialist is a trusted name in the insurance sector, counting six of the top ten global insurers among its client base.

Atos will focus on modernising CNA’s legacy systems and managing the associated risk, delivering solutions via a SaaS (software-as-a-service) model. The revamp will focus on improving the operating infrastructure for employees and streamlining the experience for the end user.

Legacy applications will be migrated to an Atos Canopy Orchestrated Hybrid Cloud platform, which shifts workloads to the appropriate cloud resources with the aim of increasing security and maximising cost savings. The legacy mainframe will be migrated to CNA’s new platform, using a consumption-based model. Atos will also deploy a digital workplace, incorporating all corporate devices in a cloud-based system, to support employees across their preferred IT support channels.

Elaborating on the IT specialist’s ethos, Atos CEO of North American operations, Chad Harris, said: “By sharing in the success of the customer and changing to outcome charging models, you create a paradigm shift in how to meet customer needs cost effectively and efficiently, further reinforcing your commitment to the partnership.”

The partnership is intended to kickstart a complete and long-term digital overhaul, according to J. Merten, EVP of Technology & Operations at CNA.

"Atos will help accelerate CNA toward a more modern IT architecture that is anchored in the cloud, less complex and more efficient for employees, insureds, agents and brokers," he said in a statement.
