Smartbear, the Massachusetts-based test automation specialist, says it is seeking to bolster its developer visibility strategy by hiring two new senior executives:  Jim Wu as VP of AI and data science and Anthony Bryce as VP of product management.

Why is this objective of visibility so important for SmartBear? “With the growing complexity of technology, like public cloud infrastructure and the move to microservices-based applications, it has become increasingly difficult for development teams to problem solve when applications go awry for end users,” said Dan Faulkner, chief product officer at SmartBear.

Jim Wu, SmartBear’s new VP of AI and data science, has more than 14 years of experience with Nuance Communications, a firm developing conversational AI for healthcare and customer engagement, most recently as VP for corporate research.

Meanwhile Anthony Bryce, SmartBear’s new VP of product management, has over 20 years of product leadership experience, with prior experience at Micro Focus and most recently with BMC Software as director of product management.

“With modern observability practices, we can collect data from complex landscapes, and with the right tools, provide deeper and more useful insights on how to efficiently fix and optimise a deployed application,” said Bryce. “Our focus is on adding increasing layers of visibility for developers so they can rapidly iterate and deploy software with increasing confidence whilst ensuring great end user experiences for their customers.”

SmartBear also appointed Veronica Curran as the company’s new chief people and culture officer in July.
