Shieldpay, the UK-based secure digital payments service, has announced the appointment of Andrew Hawkins (pictured), formerly of HSBC and Zopa, as chief technology and product officer.

With over ten years of payments industry experience – including three years as the global CTO of digital channels and mobile at HSBC, and two as CTO of Zopa, the British challenger bank – Hawkins will lead Shieldpay’s product and technology functions.

“As Shieldpay evolves its distribution model both in the UK and abroad, we are very confident that we have the right leader in Andrew to oversee our core technology platform and product offering,” said Peter Janes, CEO and founder of Shieldpay.

Meanwhile, US-based Bankjoy has announced the appointment of Michael Carrol as its new CTO, and iBanFirst filled five C-level positions.

Founded in 2015, US-based and Y-Combinator backed Bankjoy recently hired Michael Carroll, who has over a decade of technology experience and history as VP of engineering at Teladoc Health and RubiconMD, both virtual medical care platforms.

iBanFirst, the French fintech company focusing on international payments, has hired Alain Lagabrielle as CTO, among four other new hires. Founder and CEO of iBanFirst, Pierre-Antoine Dusoulier said: “This series of appointments comes at a time of strong growth for iBanFirst, which has seen its turnover increase by more than 100% each year for several years.”

Lagabrielle previously worked at French investment bank Société Générale, implementing DevSecOps and infrastructure as code.
