Selenium Grid Specialist Element34 Adds Exploratory Testing

22 November 2018
The addition of manual exploratory testing is intended to cater to developers and manual testers.

On-premises Selenium Grid infrastructure specialist Element34 Solutions has added a new, exploratory testing feature to its flagship product. The SBOX Exploratory Testing feature allows users to start manual testing sessions on Selenium Box and conduct manual and exploratory testing separately from the automated tests running on Selenium Box, according to the company.

Exploratory testing is conducted in many QA teams working in Agile. It is defined as "a style of software testing that emphasizes the personal freedom and responsibility of the individual tester to continually optimise the quality of his/her work by treating test-related learning, test design, test execution, and test result interpretation as mutually supportive activities that run in parallel throughout the project."

“With all the different browsers and mobile devices at your fingertips, it was a natural step for us to add this functionality to the product and to offer the ability to start test sessions manually,” said Michael Palotas, CEO of Element34 Solutions. “This new offering is aimed at developers and manual testers alike as it gives them instant access to a wide range of browsers and mobiles where they can conduct exploratory tests.”

SBOX also includes some existing Selenium Box features like video recording and access to the browser developer console.
