JP Morgan is seeking to fill a new executive role, heading up its blockchain development. The US banking giant will be recruiting for a London-based blockchain expert to lead blockchain projects from conception to production. While blockchain’s role in business processes remains up for debate, JP Morgan is positioning itself as a pioneer of the technology. The firm is now seeking to hire executives who can serve as a bridge between business and technology. The role will be based in London, and sit within the bank’s Blockchain Centre of Excellence (BCoE). The BCOE reportedly coordinates all blockchain and distributed ledger technology (DLT) activities. JP Morgan has used blockchain technology to build a cross-border payments network. Using a distributed ledger that can be accessed by the numerous banks involved, the organisation aims to make it easier to carry out compliance checks and make corrections – processes that can delay payments.
