IBM has signed a $260 million multi-year deal to provide IT services to the Bank of the Philippine Islands. The services will encompass agile IT, hybrid cloud, and “development to accelerate BPI’s digital transformation”, according to an IBM press release. BPI is the third-largest bank in the Philippines in assets, with more than 9 million customers, providing services over mobile, ATMs, cash accept machines and branches, IBM also said. The two entities jointly developed an IT environment that supports open APIs to support the development of BPIs applications and services. The goal is to enable continuous technological upgrades for bank branches. On the customer end, the new infrastructure should enable the release of new financial services apps for customers, IBM also said.
