IBM Selects Actifio for Data Virtualisation
Data management specialist Actifio has teamed with IBM, allowing the latter to use Actifio’s proprietary technology for its new IBM InfoSphere Virtual Data Pipeline (VDP) offering. The OEM agreement will see IBM leverage Actifio’s patented Virtual Data Pipeline in its InfoSphere VDP.
InfoSphere is designed to provide customers with a self-service platform to quickly access any point-in-time copy of a production dataset and efficiently update it with the most recent copy, for application development in multi-cloud, hybrid-cloud or on-premises environments. This self-serve data access capability can help accelerate time to market for application development and modernisation while helping to reduce costs associated with both traditional and continuous delivery (DevOps) software development lifecycles.
Rob Thomas, General Manager, IBM Analytics, said, “By enabling clients to quickly and simply access production data that is kept updated incrementally, IBM InfoSphere VDP can help clients accelerate testing and application modernization. This speed and agility are crucial to being successful in today’s dynamic, ever-changing business environment and further help our clients make their data ready for AI.”
The OEM agreement builds on an existing relationship between Actifio and IBM, which also includes solutions for cyber-resilience and data protection in the cloud, among others.
