Cisco is betting on IoT with the launch of a new developer hub. The US IT giant announced new IoT developer tools and networking platforms at its Cisco Live event, running between January 28 and February 1 in Barcelona. The new toolset will include learning materials, developer tools and resources to allow participants to start building solutions and applications more easily. All of thee capabilities will be offered as part of Cisco’s DevNet programme, focusing on bringing applications to the “edge” – i.e. the edge of the internet and in contact with the physical world. “Let us help you securely connect your devices, extract data, compute at the edge, and move data to various applications in your distributed environment to get maximum value from your digitization initiatives,” the company wrote on its IoT developer center website. The portal is part of a broader investment in the internet of things, which includes new IoT networking platforms, IoT partner training, and blueprints for utilities, manufacturing, and remote and mobile assets.
