CA Technologies acquires BlazeMeter

In a deal that demonstrates the  growing importance of cloud technology in software development and testing, CA Technologies has announced that it will acquire BlazeMeter, the Israeli testing-as-a-service provider. The terms of the deal are not public but it is scheduled to close by the end of the year. Reports say that the deal could be worth as much as $100 million. Ayman Sayed, president and chief product officer, CA Technologies, said that the acquisition: “Will reinforce our leadership position in continuous testing, and our efforts to democratize performance testing as organizations accelerate their DevOps journey to drive speed and quality in the delivery of new software updates and innovations.” BlazeMeter makes use of Docker to facilitate deployment and is compatible with open source tools like Apache JMeter, Selenium, Gatling and Locust. Currently, BlazeMeter is priced according to the number of users in an organisation. A basic version is freely available, and there is a premium versions for firms that want access additional testing resources. Alon Girmonsky, CEO and founder of Blazemeter, said: “Joining forces with CA Technologies will enable BlazeMeter to continue developing our technology while enjoying the vast resources of CA Technologies to better serve our customers.”
