Banco Santander Hires New Chief Platform Officer to Lead Hybrid Cloud Development

The former Google exec will help the bank develop a product and service offer fit for its multicloud future.

Banco Santander has appointed Aiaz Kazi, a former Google executive, the newly created role of chief platform officer. Kazi will work with Santander’s global technology division.

His role will involve helping to improve the way it delivers products and services, as the bank transitions to a hybrid, multicloud environment.

He joins the bank from a previous position as platform head for Google Cloud, following a long tenure at SAP, where he worked to create new cloud-based services for in-memory database Sap Hana.

"I join Santander at a truly exciting moment in its 160-year history. I'm eager to apply my experience to build an open financial services platform business delivering on Santander's bold vision,” Kazi said.
